Standing in Barnes & Noble, staring at shelves of business books, it hit me — I am following in my father’s footsteps.
My dad worked 100+ hours a week. There wasn’t much time for errands or leisurely outings.
But Sundays were different.
He closed early, and when his health allowed, he loved going to Barnes & Noble.
He would be fully immersed in business magazines and books, always searching for the latest ideas,
trends, and insights.
Learning energized him.
Growing mattered to him.
So as I walked out the door with three business books in hand, I couldn’t help but feel closer to him
in a small but meaningful way.
Grief has a way of shaking up your entire world.
It makes you question everything — your career, your goals, your values.
As I step into a new year, in a season of searching, holding a business book just feels right.
I know my dad would approve.
