To all the working parents—

I see you.
And all the challenges you face
before you even clock in for the day.

You feed and clothe feral toddlers.
Bargain with kids to get dressed
so you aren’t late.
You wipe noses.
Change diapers.
Give snuggles.
Chauffeur children.

All before your workday begins.

In between meetings and lunch,
you get a call from daycare
or school
asking you to pick up a sick kid.

Or a panicked call from your middle schooler
who forgot their instrument,
their lunch,
or their uniform.

So on the days you feel like you’re falling short;
when you’re flustered, running behind,
and already running out of steam…

I want you to know this:
you are doing a great job.

You made it through the day.
And I’m proud of you.
